  • Statement:

I am a Political Science College Instructor, Environmentalist, and songwriter, and an activist on the need to protect and preserve our environment and planet. I am one of many people outraged by our inaction on climate change, our headlong rush to destroy what is left of the remaining natural areas of our nation and our planet, and by the ravages that racism and inequality continue to inflict on people in our country.

    2. I have been active with the Rio Hondo Group of the Sierra Club, and the Club's Orange County Political Committee for a number of years and am familiar with issues that many local and grassroots organizations face. As a Political Science instructor, I have a fair degree of knowledge of the workings of our political system

    3. What do you appreciate and value in the station's current operations?
    4. The quality of some of the programs on KPFK are simply unparalleled in terms of intelligent discussion and information content, where issues can be delved into to a significantly deeper extent than anywhere else on the radio. As a folk music aficionado, I appreciate Folkscene and Roots music available locally only on this station.

    5. What would you like to see improved or changed in the station's current operations?
    6. I would love to see more attention to the environment, and to local environmental issues and possibilities. Perhaps more programming and outreach to environmental groups, as well as groups involved in activities like native plants and organic gardening.

    7. Describe what you anticipate would be your top three priorities or areas of focus if you were elected to the local station board.
      1. More environmental orientation

      3. Interaction with other Progressive organizations

    8. Sustainability is an important part of any nonprofit operation. What are your thoughts on how the board can help to improve the station's financial footing?
    9. This is always a problem for nonprofit progressive groups and I don't have any super solutions. One thing that comes to mind is more in the way of off-airwaves fundraising. Events where maybe people can get together, as well as raise funding.6. Is there anything else you would like prospective voters to know? Long time progressive advocate.
